Established in 1988, our nursery has been growing and supplying Australian native plants to both wholesale and retail customers for over 25 years. We have extensive experience in plant propagation, cultivation and species selection. Over the years we have collected numerous rare and unusual species and brought them into cultivation. Our plants are sourced from such diverse habitats as the shores of Lake Eyre to the forests of Central Victoria.
We currently have two production facilities capable of generating in excess of 500,000 seedlings annually. The Maiden Gully nursery is situated in the heart of the Goldfields just outside Bendigo while the other nursery is situated just south of Yea (by appointment only).
Both facilities employ ‘Water Miser’ irrigation systems that is coupled with a total runoff recycling system. We have a strong committment to maintaining the environment and continue to review & minimise wastage impacts.
Our Maiden Gully site is open to the public and is stocked with indigenous and general native species in a variety of container sizes ranging from 75mm tubes up to 250mm pots. Additionally, we have a selection of species from South Africa and South America, all of which are related to our Australian natives and perform well in local gardens.
Habitat also offers a species selection and consultancy service for revegetation projects, domestic and commercial landscaping, waste water dispersal beds, shelter belts and farm forestry such as wind breaks. We also specialise in supervised school landscaping and revegetation projects encouraging learning through full student participation.
